The Synchrotron Low-energy Spectrum Arising from the Cooling of Electrons in Gamma-Ray Bursts

چکیده
Abstract This work is a continuation of previous effort (Panaitescu) to study the cooling relativistic electrons through radiation (synchrotron and self-Compton) emission adiabatic losses, with application spectra light curves synchrotron gamma-ray burst (GRB) produced by such electrons. Here, we derive low-energy slope β LE GRB pulse- integrated spectrum quantify implications measured distribution . Radiative processes that produce soft can accommodate harder slopes CGRO/BATSE Fermi/GBM only if magnetic field lifetime t B shorter than time during which typical cool radiate below 1–10 keV, less (at most) 10 radiative timescales rad electron. In this case, there one-to-one correspondence between To account for > −3/4, electron-cooling requires similar restriction on diversity arises mostly from how electron-injection rate varies (temporal power-law injection rates yield spectra) not timescale.

15 صفحه اولThe Synchrotron Spectrum of Fast Cooling Electrons Revisited.
We discuss the spectrum arising from synchrotron emission by fast cooling (FC) electrons, when fresh electrons are continually accelerated by a strong blast wave, into a power-law distribution of energies. The FC spectrum has so far been described by four power-law segments divided by three break frequencies nusa<nuc<num. This is valid for a homogeneous electron distribution. However, hot elect...
متن کاملCompton dragged gamma–ray bursts: the spectrum
We calculate the spectrum resulting from the interaction of a fireball with ambient soft photons. These photons are assumed to be produced by the walls of a funnel in a massive star. By parameterizing the radial dependence of the funnel temperature we calculate the deceleration of the fireball self–consistently, taking into account the absorption of high energy γ–rays due to interaction with th...
متن کاملSpectrum – energy correlations in Gamma – Ray Bursts confront extremely energetic
The origin, reliability and dispersion of the E p,i – E iso and other " spectrum–energy " correlations is a highly debated topic in GRB astrophysics. GRB 080916C, with its huge radiated energy (E iso ∼ 10 55 erg in the 1 keV – 10 GeV cosmological rest–frame energy band) and its intense GeV emission measured by Fermi, gives us a unique opportunity to further investigate this issue. We also inclu...
